Betty Brumback Obituary

Betty Brumback, 96, of Town & Country, MO, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025.

Betty was born in 1929, to Glenn and Lou Davis in Quincy, Illinois.  After graduation from Mendon Township High School, she studied at Quincy College.  She worked for the Quincy Herald-Whig in the Advertising Department.

Betty married her high school sweetheart, Alan Brumback, in 1951, in Arlington, Virginia where Alan was stationed in the US Air Force.  They lived in the Virginia/Washington DC/Maryland area for 5 years while Alan was in the Air Force and on assignment to the National Security Agency. While in Virginia, Betty was a title clerk for the Studebaker automobile dealership in Arlington.

Betty and Alan moved to Hazelwood, MO, in 1956, for Alan’s employment with McDonnell Douglas.  They welcomed a son and daughter. Betty decided to dedicate herself to being a wonderful wife and mother supporting Alan and the children.  After retirement, Betty and Alan moved to Wildwood, MO.

Betty was an active member and deacon at Florissant Presbyterian Church.  She led many church bazaars and potluck dinners.  She was creative with fundraising projects for the church.  Of note was a large beautiful family tree tapestry with all the church member names embroidered on the leaves of the tree by the church members.  She was an accomplished bowler.  She once won the St. Louis Tournament of Champions for doubles which was a televised event with a grand prize vacation and extremely large trophy. Betty was an accomplished quilter, embroiderer and counted cross stitcher.

Betty was dearly loved by her family and will be deeply missed.

Betty was predeceased by her husband, Alan, and daughter-in-law, Julie Brumback. She is survived by her two children Brian (Christy) Brumback of Willow Park, TX, and Linda (Scott) Dawson of Wildwood, MO; five grandchildren Kari (Spencer) Young of Danville, KY, Lisa (Chris) Parker of Weatherford, TX, Michael (Emily Tepfer) Brumback of Burnet, TX, Eric Dawson of Wildwood, MO, and Caroline Dawson of O’Fallon, MO; three great-grandchildren Margaret and Alan Young and James Parker.

The family would like to thank the staff at Garden Villas West for the care Betty received.

Services: A private graveside service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Easter Seals Midwest. As a service of the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.
