Betty Busa Obituary

Betty Roy Curtis Busa, 81, of Anderson, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 6, 2024, at CHI St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital in Bryan.


A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12th at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, 1511 Hwy 90, in Anderson.  A parish rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m..  A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 13th, with Rev. Giovanni Nguyen as the celebrant.  The rite of committal will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church Cemetery.


Serving as pallbearers are Trevor Hayes, Travis Hayes, Charlie Cook, Clayton Cook, J.B. Cook and Jeffrey Pasket.  Named as honorary pallbearers are Thomas Hayes, Cameron Busa, Jerry Parker, Chet Hannon, Morgan Gerhart, Walter Busa and Typhil Pasket.


Betty was born April 27, 1943 in Houston to James Thomas Roy and Jesse Mary Rivers Curtis.  Betty had been a resident of Grimes County since 1984, having moved here from neighboring Walker County.  She was a retired farmer/rancher who assisted both of her husbands, working the land and cattle.  Betty kept busy doing the things she enjoyed especially hunting and fishing, cooking and baking (even cake decorating),  and gardening.


Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Brosig Busa and Sam Busa; a son, Billy Ray Busa, a great grandson, Bailin Hannon and her brothers, Thomas, Lee Roy and George Curtis.


Survivors include a son, Bobby Busa and wife Stephanie of Anderson; daughters Barbara Parker and husband Jerry of Madisonville and Beverly Hayes and husband Thomas of Navasota; a sister, Sally Collins of Spring; a brother, Paul Curtis and wife Darlene of Willis; grandchildren, Trevor Hayes, Travis Hayes, Jesse Busa, Charlie Cook, Clayton Cook, Karina Hannon, Breanne Mosley, Melissa Busa, Cameron Busa  and Trevor and Trenton Johnson; great grandchildren, Marissa, Harley and Eddy Hayes, Nicholas Hayes, JB and Lexi Cook, Hazynn and Reinlynn Hannon, Cooper Cook, Paisleigh and Cambree Cook and Roper and Dally Solis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Walter and Francelle Busa and Typhil and Cecelia Pasket along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
