Bill Simon Obituary

Bill Geza Simon, of Rawl, West Virginia was embraced by our Lord and Savior and welcomed home on Friday, March 29, 2019.  He was lovingly surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Bill was born on September 30, 1929, at Rawl, West Virginia, to the late John and Elizabeth (Vargo) Simon.  He was second eldest of two siblings, whom preceded him in death; John and Emma.
He served in the US Army before marrying his forever sweetheart, Claudine (Helton) Simon of Belfry, Kentucky.  Bill dedicated thirty-three years as a brakeman for Norfolk and Western Railroad, where he retired to enjoy his golden years fishing, hunting, and farming.  His favorite pastime was sitting on his front porch, gathered by family and friends, telling stories of his military and railroad days and endless jokes.
Bill was strong-willed and stubborn as a mule, but the heart of the man shone brightly in his love and adornment for his family.  He never met a stranger, and his jovial nature to bring laughter and happiness to those around him are simple characteristics for which he will always be remembered.
Bill is survived by two sons: Reverend James "Bo" Scott (Connie) of Rawl, West Virginia, Bill Harold (Sandra) Simon of Charleston, West Virginia; daughter, Emma Sue Webb of Rawl, West Virginia; step daughter, Margaret Ann (Paul) Muncy of Pickerington, Ohio; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Rawl Freewill Baptist Church, family from 5 - 6 pm, friends 6 - 9 pm.  Funeral services will be Monday, April 1, 2019 at 1 PM with Danny Lucas officiating.  Internment will follow at the Family Cemetery, Rawl, West Virginia officiated by Danny Scott.  Billy Joe Webb, Dalton Webb, Daden Webb, Shawn Lloyd, Joshua Swift, Scott Swift and Derrick Miller will serve as pallbearers.  Dawson Webb serving as honorary pallbearer.  Belfry Chapter #141 Disabled American Veterans will conduct military services.  R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry is serving the Simon Family.  Online condolences at www.rerogersfh.com.

so sorry to hear about bill, I like a lot of others loved this guy very much. bill was by far the best brakeman to ever work for the nw. iam sorry I missed the funeral. when I was new on the railroad, bill would take me under his wing, to make sure I learned what I was doing and to make sure I didn't get hurt. I could never thank him enough for what he did for me. I know he did the same thing for a number of people. rest easy big man, you certainly earned it.
