Clifford "Bill"'s Obituary

Clifford William “Bill” Smith, 91, of Blanchard, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025. The son of William Henry Smith and Mable Fern (Anthony) Smith, he was born October 16, 1934, in Purcell, Oklahoma.

Bill was a wonderful, warm-hearted man whose smile could light up even the cloudiest day. He carried a cheerful heart and a sweet, steady disposition that made everyone around him feel welcome and cared for. Though his early years were hard, Bill never let hardship define him. Instead, he became a source of love, kindness, and quiet strength for everyone who had the good fortune to know him.

Bill never met a stranger. Whether he was talking with an old friend or a new face, he had a way of making people feel like they’d known him all their lives. He stayed busy and found joy in honest work-- spending time at the school bus barn with Chet, helping out at Neal Farm Supply, Hub ‘N Lils, and the Blanchard car wash. He mowed lawns, loaded feed sacks, and seemed to find satisfaction in every small task that kept life moving.

When he wasn’t working, Bill could often be seen riding his bicycle-- or sometimes his lawn mower-- around town, a familiar and friendly sight. He loved his garden and took pride in the flowers he grew. For a time, he even raised chickens.

Bill was a man who loved the outdoors, enjoyed working with his hands, and had a special fondness for old westerns like Gunsmoke and Bonanza. His faithful dog, Spud, was always by his side.

Above all, Bill loved the Lord and worshipping with his church family at Crossroad to Life Baptist Church. His faith and fellowship brought him deep comfort, and he poured that same warmth and sincerity into his church and community, reflecting the goodness that defined his life.

A heartfelt thanks to Cammie and Mark Sneed, whose steadfast love and care meant the world to Bill. They took him to church, looked after him with kindness, and shared a bond of genuine friendship that brightened his life.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister Hazel Hurd; brothers Smokey Smith and Albert “Ab” Leroy Smith; and special friends Marjetta Dockery and Leslie McCraw.

He is survived by a large part of the Swell family, Barbara Harris, and all those who loved him dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Crossroad to Life Baptist Church in Blanchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
