Billy Joe Williams Sr. was born on April 8, 1944, to the late JC and Della Mae Williams in McComb, Mississippi and gained his wings on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at his home surrounded by loved ones.
Billy embraced Christianity at a young age, being baptized by Rev. Pondexter in the Amite River in Mississippi, and he
attended Mount Canaan AME Church.
He received his education in the McComb Public School system before relocating to Kenner, Louisiana, in his early adulthood.
In the early stages of his career, Billy held various jobs until he obtained his CDL license and pursued a position as a
truck driver with the Jefferson Parish Drainage Department, where he retired after 25 years in July 1999.
In 1998, Billy met the love of his life, Darlene Williams, and they were married in November 2001, and shared 23
wonderful years together until God called him home.
Billy had a passion for dancing and playing blues music, as well as watching football and western shows. He loved
spending time outdoors, often sitting under a tree in front of his house with friends. He affectionately named the area
"THE POSSE PARK",; where he and his loved ones created many cherished memories together.
Relatives and friends of the family as well as pastors, officers, and members of Oakland Baptist Church as well as neighboring churches, also former coworkers are all invited to attend his homegoing celebration on Saturday January 25th, 2025 at 11:00 am at Oakland Baptist Church 825 Rev. Richard Wilson Dr., Kenner, La 70062, Rev. Charles Hurst Pastor/Officiating Minister. Interment will follow at Love and Charity Cemetery 4th and Decatur St., Kenner. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am in the above named church.
