Brenda Joyce (Crawley) Weddle (age 70 years, 9 months, 5 days) passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 1:23 pm. Brenda was at St. Elizabeth Hospice, in Edgewood, Kentucky, where she chose to end her battle with cancer. Brenda was born December 17, 1947 to William and Ruth (Peck) Miller Crawley Malone on Bryant Ridge in Liberty, Ky. She was married to Olis Adrian Weddle from July 6, 1965 until his passing June 26, 1992.
Simple pleasures brought joy to Brenda's life: chatting with friends and family; watching the birds on her sister Patsy's deck; eating buttermilk and corn bread; chicken livers; bagel dip; strong coffee and cold coke. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren who were her special treasures. She listened patiently, shared nothing she heard, and gave everything she had. Few of her adult family members did not experience living with Brenda when they needed a place.
Brenda is survived by her children Lucinda (Weddle, Taylor) Karl Moore; Tammy (Weddle) Vince Savage; Thomas Weddle and Jeremiah Crawley. Grandchildren Tabatha Taylor, Clayton, Stuart (Miriam); Anthony and Blake Savage; Justin and Sara Weddle; Garrett Crawley, Anita and Joseph Moore. Great grandchildren Brooklynn, Mason, Wes, Elyse, Harrison, Oliva Savage; and Ivee Rose Taylor. Brenda's surviving sisters are: Alma Faye (Miller) Latham, Frances (Miller; Short) McQueary; Patsy (Crawley) Elmore; Irma (Crawley) Terry Ryan and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her spouse and parents, Brenda was preceded in passing by her siblings Annetta Rose Crawley, Ronnie Crawley, and Hazel Delores (Miller) Taylor.
Brenda worked at Shawnee Cleaners, the Artcraft Theatre, and the Daily Journal. She retired after thirty-four years of dedicated service from the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Brenda has touched are invited to reminisce, grieve, support each other and, of course, celebrate the life of this strong, feisty, frugal, bossy, 100 pound mountain of a wonderful woman.
Friends and Family may call on Thursday, September 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. A celebration of Brenda's life will be held on Friday, September 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial following at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
In lieu of cut flowers please consider a more lasting gift such as a donation in her memory/name to the American Cancer Society, 5635 West 96th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46278; a contribution to Flinn and Maguire, or low growing perennials suitable for the gravesite.
