Eugene “Buddy” Calvin McCormick, Jr., 72, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025.
Buddy was born on July 11, 1952, in Newport News, VA. He moved to Jacksonville Beach at 13 years old and graduated from Duncan U. Fletcher High School in Jacksonville Beach in 1970. Buddy attended Western Carolina University on a football scholarship. From 1977-1991, he worked at Atlantic Marine in Mayport, FL and was the company’s president for Atlantic Marine and the Alabama Shipyard from 1992 till 2002. Buddy resided in Fairhope, AL with his three kids where he coached football. After retiring, he co-owned Ragtyme Grille in downtown Pensacola from 2002 until 2012. Buddy was a Free Mason and loved sports, especially University of Florida Gators football. He was an avid golfer, loved boating and you could find him at Quietwater Beach in his beloved Fountain boat enjoying bushwackers and chicken wings. Buddy was an active member of the Propeller Club of Pensacola, FL and was an advocate for the Port of Pensacola. To know him was to love him, he was a buddy to so many.
Buddy is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Calvin McCormick, of Jacksonville Beach, FL and brother, Neal McCormick of Jacksonville Beach, FL.
He is survived by his mother, Frances Ann Roberts (Clifton); daughter, Lauren Gaddy (Peter); sons, Eugene “Trey” Calvin McCormick, III and Grant McCormick (Estefania); grandchildren, Adeline and Cora Gaddy, Jack, Ava and Tinley McCormick and Victoria McCormick. Buddy is also survived by his loving ex-wife, Cindy Overby McCormick.
Visitation will be held from 3:00pm until a Memorial Service begins at 4:00pm Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd. Pensacola, FL 32504. A memorial service for friends and family in Jacksonville, FL will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Beach Church, 325 7th Ave. N., Jacksonville, FL 32250.

The family would like to give special thanks to Vitas Hospice Care and all the loving staff, especially Lexi, Britney and dear friend, Sandy Toscar Odom.

Rest in peace brother. Enjoyed our football days at Duncan U., especially on our morning run on the first August two-a-day practice. Also being with you at the hospital in July 1983 while our wives were enjoying their contractions!
