Burton D. Garland, Sr.

Beloved husband of the late Lynne Garland for 55 years.  Dear father of Laurie (Michael Weisman) Garland, Gregg (Alyson) Garland and Burton (Amy) Garland, Jr.  Loving grandfather of Morgan, Whitney, and Justin Weisman, Ryan, Reed and Jack Garland, and Sophia, Jason and Grant Garland.  Beloved son of the late Paul Garfinkel and the late Sarah Garfinkel Sokolik.  Dear uncle, cousin and friend.

Burt was a long-time real estate broker and investor and tennis club visionary. A man of many hobbies, he enjoyed collecting cars, vintage toys, and vintage radios. For a Jewish man, he also had the luck of the Irish on his side when he and Lynne won the Irish Derby Sweepstakes in 1967. He enjoyed his frequent visits to the casino to play blackjack and was a fixture in Clayton and Ladue as an avid walker.

Burt died very peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his three children. Burt, known as Paw to his nine grandchildren, will be missed, but will live on through each one of them.

Private family graveside service.  Contributions in Burt’s memory may be made to the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, 12 Millstone Campus Drive, St. Louis, MO, 63146 or to the charity of your choice.  The family will receive relatives and friends for Shiva at the home of Burt and Amy Garland, Jr. on Friday, July 22 from 4-6pm.
