Byron Ray Bates

Byron Ray Bates, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, peacefully departed this life on Monday, November 3, 2025. He leaves to cherish his memory to his devoted mother, Bobbie B. Lewis; two loving daughters, Asia Irean Bates and Angel Bates; one cherished grandson, Harlem Bates; two brothers, Gregory Lee Bates (Karen) and Philip Lewis I; one beloved niece, Kaitlyn Bates; and one stepsister, Mary Elizabeth Keys. He will also be lovingly remembered by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Byron was preceded in death by his father, the late George C. Bates; his stepfather, Philip Lewis; his son, Tyrese Bates. Funeral Service Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Rising Star Baptist Church, 1350 Laurel St., Metairie, LA. Visitation: 12:00PM. Service: 1:00 PM. Interment: Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose, La.
