We knew Pastor Helgen at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church in Roscoe, Illinois. He was a wonderful man! He baptized our son, Daniel and we were part of the original group forming this mission church. We continue to exchange Christmas cards with him through last year. We are sorry to hear of his passing, but we know that he is with his Lord and Savior.

I had the fortune of knowing David when he lived at SummerWood. He came to the exercise classes I led. His mood was always upbeat and when I asked him "How are you today David?" --He always responded - (after lowering his voice a few octaves) "Pretty good for an old man!" Peace and sympathies to you all. Amy W

Pastor Helgen was my greatest spiritual mentor growing up in Osakis, MN. He served at Osakis Lutheran and we studied under him for confirmation classes. He loved the Lord and it showed. He drew us into deep disucussion about our Savior, and the all the Biblical characters. He cared about us as children and teens. I remember a taffy pull in the church basement. What fun. He followed us to Luther Crest Bible Camp and came canoeing down the Long Prairie river, ticks, mosquitoes, and a song on the water. He cared about my family, particularly after my father, Royce Peterson, died. He visited my mother, Jeanette, often. Connie was one of Moms dearest friends. Pastor Helgen married my husband and me in 1978 and we are still married. Thank you, boys, for sharing your dad with us. He introduced me to Jesus. And I am grateful. There is no doubt that he is rejoicing in heaven with his savior right now. What good memories and life to come with Pastor Helgen!
