Canter Lambert Obituary

Canter Giffin Lambert, age 78 of Franklin, WV passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at UVA in Charlottesville, VA. He was born on June 5, 1935 in Keyser, WV, the son of the late Odwith Canter and Alice Catherine (Harper) Lambert. On June 16, 1962, Giffin married Brenda Joyce (Moyers) Lambert, who lives in Franklin.

Mr. Lambert attended Pendleton County Schools and he was a member of the Franklin Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He retired in 1994 as a Bus Driver and also did Custodial for Pendleton County Schools. Giffin had also worked for Marvel Poultry for 12 years and was the former Manager of Thorn Spring Park in Franklin. He was a Veteran of the US Army.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Lambert is survived by: 3 daughters, Eugenia Milton and husband Ron of Linville, VA, Ginger Turner and husband Joey of Franklin, Charity Lambert of Franklin; a son, Randy Lambert and wife Charmeigne of Harrisonburg, VA; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Giffin was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Lambert.

Mr. Lambert's family will receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2013, 5-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin. Bishop Jay Hartman and David Hartman will officiate funeral serivces on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin with Military Graveside Services conducted by the Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard. Well where to start Grandpa was a wonderful man and there is no other like him. He will be missed by so many and loved and remembered by many more. there will not be a day to go by that I will not think about you grandpa, thank you for being the constant man in my life and for you and grandma for showing me how to love and when to love hard. For you grandma I am truley sorry for the man who has went home to be with the lord, but do remember that he will be waiting for you when the time comes with his arms wide open for you.

I will always remember Giffie for his laugh. It was always so genuine - never forced - and came from his heart. I will miss that. He was always interested in the health of others - always put them before himself. Giffie was a good man and has always been a good friend to me. So sorry he is gone.
