Carl Mundelius 73 years of age, died of heart failure on April 19, 2022 in Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville, Ky.
Loving husband to Leoni for over 32 years and loving father to Stephanie Mundelius and Lilia Mundelius and loving grandfather to Violet Wilson. He was the son of late Otto Carl Mundelius and late Bernice Stewart, brother to late Jane Mundelius and grandson to late Michael Stewart and late Adeline Shulte. Born May 8, 1948 and raised in St. Louis, Mo.
Carl attended Buder Elementary School and graduated in Southwest High School in St. Louis Mo., where he was the Senior Projectionist and Audio Aid. He was also in Math Club and Science Club and a member of Greater St. Louis DeMolay Drum and Bugle Corp. He was the Finance Chairman for the Eastern District Jurisdiction, Order of DeMolay and the Master Councilor of Gardenville DeMolay Chapter. He earned an Associate Degree for Arts in University of the State of New York. He entered basic training for the Armed Forces on November 1, 1972. He was an Operating Room Specialist, Surgical Technician and Medical Specialist while in the service and achieved the Colonel’s Orderly. Carl attended the Medical College of Georgia and trained in Anesthesia in Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and graduated Cum Laude. He traveled and worked in various hospitals throughout Mid West and always put the patients well being first. Carl was a 3rd generation Freemason in his family here in the U.S. and a proud member of the Masonic Order for over 50 years and kept King Solomon Lodge No. 95 as his home lodge all these years.
He loved to travel and show his family the finer things in life. He was a pilot and loved to fly. Carl was giving, conscientious, intellectual and full of life.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company & Crematory. Full military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #38. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. with Father Aldrin Tayag officiating.
Visitation will resume at 6 p.m. until time of the Masonic service at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company & Crematory.
A second Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Danville, KY with Father Anthony McLaughlin officiating.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer’s Respite Center 125 University Drive 42501
