Carmen Nunez Matos Diaz

1943 - 2025

On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, God in His infinite wisdom decided to call home one of his child, Ms. Carmen Nunez.

Mommy, as she was affectionately called, was born on April 29, 1943, to the late Antonia and Gillermo Diaz in Puerto Rico.

Carmen was a homemaker raising four children in Virginia, where she confesses her life to Christ.

Carmen affectionately known as “Mommy” to her family and friends and everyone enjoyed being in her presence for good conversation and good food.  Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 82. Carmen was of love and warmth to everyone who knew her.  She will be deeply missed and forever remember. Carmen kindness, generosity and gentle nature touched the lives of many. Her memory will live on in our hearts.

Ms. Nunez was preceded in death by her daughter, Marta Martinez. She leaves to cherish memories: two sons, Carmelo Jr. (Stacy) of Chester, Virginia and Jimmy Otero of Chesterfield, Virginia; one daughter, Rosa Monzon (Henry) of Chesterfield, Virginia.  Ms. Nunez also leaves to cherish her memory a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, as well as devoted family and friends.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 11, 2025, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA.
