Carmine S. Candelmo, of Gorham, passed away peacefully on December 12th in Portland after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Carmine was born in Portland to Carmine Candelmo and Rita Hughes on February 1st, 1943. He was a proud student of Portland High – he loved his Bulldogs! He married Dianne G. Candelmo in September of 1985. After serving in the Navy, he worked as a chemical technician for over twenty years with Plasmine Technology.
Carmine enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, college football, Nascar, talking politics, the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He also had a love for all animals, especially his horses, dogs, and cats.
Carmine was predeceased by his wife Dianne G. Candelmo in 2002. He is survived by his four children, Jeremy, John, Nicole, and Edward. His grandchildren, Alex, Sasha, Brody, and Michael. His five siblings, Pasquale, Edward, Dominic, Donna, and Camilla, and many loved nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, December 17th, at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 18th, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland, following the service.

My sincerest condolences to the Candelmo family on your loss. I remember Sonny from many, many years ago. He was one of my brother Peters' best friends and spent a lot of time at my house. Rest in peace, Sonny.
