Carol Janet Lott was born on June 27, 1939, in Flint, Michigan to the late Boyce and Helen (Payne) Buckner. On Sept. 12, 2020, the Lord came and took her home. For most of her life, Carol resided in Flint, where she graduated from Central High School, Class of 1957, and she went on to earn an associate degree at Flint Community Junior College (now Mott Community College). On May 2, 1964, Carol Buckner married George Robert Lott and from this union, two daughters were born.
As a woman who lived with God as the head of her life, Carol joined Vermont Christian Church at an early age, where she played the piano and directed the choir for many years before taking on the same roles at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Morris Township, where she remained an active member until her health declined. She worked for many years with the Flint Board of Education in various roles, including as secretary of Roy Wilkins Elementary before she retired. In addition to playing the piano, singing and reading, Carol was a passionate Christian and loved spreading the gospel and giving God praise. After the passing of her husband, she relocated to Jonesboro, GA, where she joined Shiloh Baptist Church and continued to sing praises unto the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her memory her: loving daughters, Tonya (Carlton) Grier and Michelle Washington; stepdaughter, Cynthia Patton; grandchildren, Tiana Derrick, MiKayla Avery, Jasmine (Delroy) Patterson, Venus Patton, Thomas and Marcus, Richard Aubrey, Markisha, Marquan and Alysha Masters, Deionta, Charneyce and Charnaye Grier; numerous great-grandchildren, including Keith Washington Jr., Maya Delaney and Delroy Patterson Jr.; sister, Lynnette Rhodes and brothers, Larry (Mae) Buckner, Carl Buckner and Dennis Buckner; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends.
Carol was preceded in death by: her husband, George Lott; sister Lorna Crutchfield and parents Boyce and Helen Buckner.
The family wishes to give special thanks to caregivers Beril Green, Rose Gunter, Pam Samuel and the Kindred Home Health Stockbridge branch.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. She was great to sit and talk to, and had the best stories to tell! I've learned so much from her over the years. A sweet spirit that wasn't afraid to speak her opinion. She will truly be missed and has etched a place in my heart forever .
