Carol L. Strawn, 74, of Arlington, Iowa, died Thursday morning, February 9, 2023, at UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa

 

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Arlington, Iowa with Rev. Margaret Yackel-Juleen officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday, February 13, 2023, and for one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home in Arlington.

Interment: Groat Cemetery, rural Arlington.

Carol Lee Hohmann was born February 10, 1948, in Elkader, Iowa, the daughter of William and Vanita (McDowell) Hohmann.  She graduated from Elkader High School.  On November 10, 1973, she was united in marriage to James A. Strawn at Elkader.  Over the years, Carol was employed as a CNA in Oelwein and Strawberry Point.  She also was employed at Charley’s Gas Station and Goodwill.  Carol enjoyed flowers, gardening, being outdoors, gambling, garage sales and her grandchildren.

 

Carol is survived by her son: Jason Strawn of Arlington; 2 daughters: Patches (Matt) Toebe of Shell Rock and Michele Ross of Strawberry Point; 7 grandchildren: Casstle and Zoe Strawn, Gunner, Stella and Austin Toebe, and Alaurah Alderson and Leadah Price; brother-in-law: John (Myrlene) Strawn of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law: Sharon Strawn of Bellevue, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter: Buffy Strawn; and 6 siblings: Evelyn Nading, Donald Minkler, Patricia Knight, Norma Adams, Lorrine Deeds and Larry Hohmann.
