Carroll Lonus Franklin

1936 - 2020

Carroll Lonas Franklin, age 84, of Shelbina, MO, passed away Monday, July 13, 2020 at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, MO. 

Carroll was born on June 23, 1936, in Knoxville, TN, the son of Bart and Jessie (Robertson) Franklin.  He was united in marriage to Mary Lou (White) Metcalf on June 9, 1990 in Shelbina, MO.  Carroll was a member of the American Legion. He drove for Potterfield Trucking for close to 40 years.  He enjoyed traveling to Arizona and Florida as well as playing pool.

 

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; three children, Carroll Patrice Fohey, Jessie Lorton, and Julie Neagles (Scott) all of Hannibal, MO, three step-children, Jeff Metcalf (Kelli) of Fort Madison, IA, Tammy Dent (Randy) of Jefferson City, MO, and Lori Kraft (Ronnie) of Durham, MO; eighteen grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bart Leslie Franklin; siblings, Ralph Franklin, Ida Mae Taylor, Virginia Jo Hegg, Mary Margaret Franklin, Marvin Franklin, Delores Crane, Dwight Franklin, June Meyers; and several in-laws.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 10 am to 11 am at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO. Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Greening Eagan Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO, followed by the burial in the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, MO.  Memorials may be made to Shelby County Senior Citizens or Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
