Catherine Mincey Obituary
Wilma “Catherine” Branscum Mincey, age 91 of Somerset passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Somerset Nursing and Rehabilitation. Catherine was born on August 31, 1933 in Pulaski County, KY, the daughter of Roy Eskar Branscum and Zella Gadberry Branscum. Catherine was a charter member and faithful to Denham Street Baptist Church. She was an avid quilter and had made hundreds of quilts and quilted for many people. Catherine enjoyed traveling and she was a huge fan of Kentucky Basketball.
In addition to her parents, Roy and Zella Branscum, and her husband Charles Mincey, Catherine was preceded in death by her son, Donald E. Mincey; her brother, William Branscum; and her sister, Ardith Nicholas.
Survivors include her son, Paul E. Bryant (Barbara) of Somerset; three grandchildren, Amy Gosser (Leroy), Charles Bryant and Bryce Mincey; great grandchildren, James Paul Gosser, Matthew Gosser (Ellie), Catherine Bryant (Caleb), Hayden Bryant and Allison Bryant; one sister, Flo Lane of Cincinnati, OH; daughter-in-law, Elaine Mincey of Somerset, extended family members and friends and neighbors who are saddened by her passing.
The family of Catherine would like to take this opportunity to express their deepest gratitude to all of the nursing staff at Somerset Nursing and Rehab and to Hospice of Lake Cumberland for their kindness and care of Catherine Mincey.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy 80, Somerset, KY 42503. The funeral service for Catherine Mincey will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Brandon Wilson and Bro. Larry Butte officiating. Burial will be at the Mincey Cemetery, Somerset, KY.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland in memory of Catherine Mincey. Donations can be mailed c/o Lake Cumberland Funeral Home at P.O. Box 1441, Somerset, KY 42502.

Deepest sympathy to Barb and family. I remembered her from Denham Street and her and my Mom were friends. She did quilting many times for my Mom, Clara Jasper. RIP
