Cecil Rohrberger Obituary

Cecil Rohrberger, 94, of Pensacola, FL went home to the Lord on Friday, November 28, 2025.

He was born in 1930 to the late Adolph and Florence Ketry Rohrberger in New Orleans, LA and spent his early childhood on Royal Street.

Cecil was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. After High School he started in the restaurant business, at Antoines in New Orleans, and went on to have an extensive career in Club Management and was Proprietor of the Executive Club here in Pensacola, FL. He loved horse racing at The Fairgrounds in New Orleans and later owned and raced horses himself. He loved college football and was an ever faithful fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and fishing. A gourmet of sorts, he enjoyed good food, well prepared, and he appreciated excellent service. He loved Dixieland Jazz, all New Orleans cuisine, in particular roast beef poboys, red beans and rice, trout amandine and of course boiled crawfish. Barqs Root Beer was a staple in his home. He was a member of the Club Managers Association of America and McIlwain Memorial Presbyterian Church.

He loved his family dearly.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Dr. Mary Rohrberger, PHD, and Shirly Barras.

Those left to cherish his memory include, his loving wife, Ann Rohrberger; his children, Cecil Rohrberger, Jr. (Cathy), Lynda Palmer (George), Shelly Cook (Steve), Eileen Wheeler and Buzz Griffin; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am until a Memorial Service begins at 11:00am Saturday, December 13, 2025, at McIlwain Memorial Presbyterian Church, with Pastor David McIntosh officiating.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to John O’Meara, beloved protégé and his choice as the original manager at the Executive Club. John was like a son to Cecil. Also, to Richard Adams, Sr., beloved brother-in-law who Cecil respected, trusted and depended on. He too was like a son to Cecil.

Susan and I had many happy interactions with Ann and Cecil , mostly in New Orleans but also in Pensacola. He always had an upbeat and positive approach to life , obviously enjoyed his work, and was very devoted to Ann.
We enjoyed watching his horses race, and win sometimes, at the old New Orleans race track. His interests , as noted in the obituary were quite broad.
A good man. A life well and fully lived. Condolences to Ann and the entire family. He will be certainly missed but remembered for a host of great memories.

Jim and I am so very for your loss.
We lived next door to Cecil and Ann in Gulf Breeze for several years. We all enjoyed big game fishing and food. We also loved the Executive Club! We scheduled and attended many great parties there! Cecil always made certain everything was perfect and enjoyed mingling with the guests. He was a true Southern Gentleman and will be missed by many friends and family. Rest in Peace my friend.
