Charles Wintermute Obituary

Charles (Chuck) Martin Wintermute, 62, of Wildwood, MO, beloved husband of Susan (Kirsch) Wintermute, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on January 19, 2026, after a long battle of cancer.

Chuck was born on December 27, 1963 in Columbia, MO.  He is the son of Don (Mary) Wintermute, Punta Gorda, FL and the late Maxine (Marvin) Jinkerson.   He grew up in DeSoto, Missouri, graduating in 1982.  He graduated from Southwest Missouri State, where he was the President of Delta Sigma Phi and made many life long friends.

After graduation, he began his career in Kansas City, where he met the love of his life, Susan, his wife of 35 years.  Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter and faith.  As a father to Kirstin (Daniel) Lamers, Alyssa (Anthony Duke), Danielle (Chase Omlid) and Jack, and Pappy to Charlotte and Molly Lamers, he was a steady presence and their biggest supporter.  He took great pride in his family and treasured every moment spent with them, never taking life for granted.  He always reminded them to “Be Awesome Today”.

He is also survived by his siblings, Donine (Bernie) Schwartz, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Mark (Sharon) Wintermute, DeSoto, Kansas, Brad (Deborah) Wintermute of Ashburn, Virginia, his mother-in-law, Virginia Kirsch, Wildwood, MO, his brother-in-law, David Kirsch, Overland Park, Kansas, and his nieces and nephews, Michael, Justin, Marcus, Tyler, Dylan, Ashley, Will and Elli.

Chuck was a natural born salesman.  He built a career building relationships which led to him to great success in his career.

Chuck had a zest for life and lived every day to its fullest.  Through his 20 years of living with cancer, he never lost his optimism or faith and often shared it with others walking the same journey and inspiring friends through his faith.  He taught us all the importance of family, faith, compassion, and gratitude.

While Chuck loved to ski, golf, and travel, he was most comfortable just being at home with his family and cherished dogs, Aspen and Breck.  And was embracing his time with Jack, cheering him on at the soccer games and coaching his basketball team.

Visitation will be held from 1:00p - 3:00p on Tuesday, January 27th, 2026 at The Loft at the Crossing Church in Chesterfield, MO.  The service will follow at 3pm.  The church is located at 114 N. Eatherton Road, Chesterfield, MO 63005.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Jack Wintermute’s Education Fund, in Chuck’s memory.  Nothing would please him more, than his friends and family supporting Jack.  The donation can be made payable to Jack Wintermute and mailed to Merrill Lynch, 400 Chesterfield Center, Ste 200, Chesterfield, MO 63017.

Chuck will be forever loved and deeply missed, but his legacy of love, strength and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

I had the opportunity to work with Chuck, and he was the ultimate professional. He took his work seriously, showed up the right way every day, and always did things the right way. He also had a great sense of humor and made the people around him better because of it. I’m grateful for the time I got to spend with him and will always appreciate those moments. Chuck will be missed.

I went to college with Chuck and was a member of the same fraternity. Chuck was several years older than me but he always treated me well. He treated everyone well. He was a great guy. I will be praying for your family.

I was so sorry to hear of Chucks passing. I always remember him with a big smile on his face. He put in beautiful counter tops in my kitchen in wildwood. He also employed all 3 of my children at some point. I know the family is devastated. He will leave a very large hole in your lives. My prayers go out to you all.
