Mr. Chris Allen "Coach" Merritt, of Warrenton, MO, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. He was born on April 13, 1955 in St. Louis, MO, to the late Burdell and Beth (nee: Dayhuff) Merritt. Coach had reached the age of 70 years.
Coach Merritt was united in marriage to Diana Rocco on May 29, 1981 in St. Louis. They spent over 44 wonderful years together and this union was blessed with three children, Timothy, Jamie and Robin. Coach earned his Masters Degree in Health Education. He was a high school football coach, track and field coach and School District Administrator from 1978 - 2003 at Warrenton High School. He also taught health class. When he wasn't coaching, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, boating and gardening. He also enjoyed running. His greatest joy came from spending time with his wife, children and grandchild.
Coach Merritt was preceded in death by his parents, Burdell and Beth. Surviving family members include his loving wife, Diana; his children, Timothy Merritt (Leah Schultz), Jamie Merritt (Nathan Rosenstock), Robin Merritt (Alex Gendernalik); one grandchild, Simon Merritt; three siblings, Kim Roese (Dana), JoJo Merritt and Clay Merritt (Carolyn); nieces, nephews; other relatives, many friends and former students.

Chris was the boss of the transportation department of Warren County R-III. Chris hired me as a bus driver and trained me to get my CDL. He was a great boss and an awesome person. He will definitely be missed. Prayers to his family.
