On March 14, 2023, our beloved Christina passed away after a long and courageous battle with Complex Neurological Lyme Disease. She touched so many lives with her loving, sassy spirit and her strong love for her family, faith and friends.
Christina graduated from Antioch High School in 1998 and earned her BA Degree in Liberal Arts in 2004. From 2006 - 2007 Christina taught Pre-First Grade at a private school in Reno, Nevada while furthering her education and attending Sierra Nevada College at the same time. From 2007 - 2008 Christina taught 6th grade in Stead, Nevada until she had to stop due to her illness. Not only did her students love her but their parents did too. She made a huge impact in their lives as well, and they still remember her as 'that one teacher you never forget'. Christina came back home to California as her disease progressed and the fight was on. Lyme disease impacted Christina's life from October 2008 until succumbing March 14. 2023. Christina loved to read and had a brilliant mind. She had the most magnificent, wonderful imagination and quick wit. Her spirit was so full of love and could be felt by everyone she touched. She loved her family and friends with all her heart and would drop everything to help them anytime, anywhere.
Christina is predeceased by her younger sister Katherine Johnelle DiMercurio (1983 - 2005), her maternal grandparents, Frank and Carmen Vetrano, her paternal grandparents Sal and Doris DiMercurio, and her father John C. DiMercurio (1943 - 2022). Christina and I never met. We spoke on the phone and messaged from time to time about our Lyme journey.
I met Christina by way of my mother, Sandra Sutton, as she told me a fellow coworker’s daughter was experiencing the horrors of Lyme too.
I loved how determined she was and we both supported one another when things got tough. I will miss our talks.
Rest in paradise my beautiful friend.
