Christopher L. Siemann

1953 - 2016

Christopher L. Siemann, born March 8, 1953, in Carroll, Iowa, to Cecil and Vera Siemann died suddenly of natural causes on Friday, April 8, in Denver, Colorado. His family lived on a farm outside of Lohrville until they moved to Carroll when Chris was in grade school. He never was willing to completely relinquish his identity as an Iowa farm boy, however. In the past few years, he delighted his granddaughters with "Farm Talk" instead of storybooks before bedtime. In 1983, he married Nona Niedert in New York City.

Chris is survived by his mother, of Carroll, IA, his wife, their three children: two daughters Dyllan (Brian) Walter of Jamison, PA, and Cecily of Brooklyn, NY, and a son, Carson (Rebekah) of New York City, and three grandchildren, Grace, Mary, and William Walter. He is also survived by two sisters, Joan Frasor of Golden Beach, FL, Diane (Burt) Chojnowski of Fairfield, IA, and seven brothers: Gregory (Carolyn) of Carroll, IA; William (Linda) of Loveland, CO; Paul of Allentown, PA; James (Lynne) of San Diego, CA,; Mark (Sheila) of Erie, CO; Nick (Renely) of Kailua, HI; and Jonathan of Dallas, TX. Additional survivors include his brothers and sisters-in- law: Michael (Kristine) Niedert of West Des Moines, IA; Paula (Chris) Elliott of Old Lyme, CT; Gail (Andy) Mauer of Cedar Falls, IA; Ellen (Steve) Higgins of Montclair, NJ; and Barbara Chapman of Denver, CO, as well as 27 nieces and nephews, many cousins and great-nieces and nephews, and scores of people scattered across the country, many of whom considered Chris one of their best friends - not to mention Chris' other best friend of 15 years, his miniature poodle, Huckleberry.

Chris was preceded in death by his father Cecil, his sister Laura, his nephews Dominick Niedert and Kevin Frasor, brother-in-law, Tom Frasor, and his in-laws, Dick and Gladys Niedert.

A graduate of Carroll Kuemper High School and the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Chris owned a school fundraising business, operating primarily in Colorado and Wyoming since 1987.

Chris and Nona and their children previously lived in Boulder and Denver, CO, Thousand Oaks, CA, and for the past five years, in Downingtown, PA.

He was a kind, vibrant, and exceptionally engaging man - to say he will be missed is an understatement. He seemed to be curious about and fascinated by everything and everyone. A salesman who "could sell ice water to Eskimos," Chris was nevertheless completely sincere in his interactions with everyone he encountered in both his business and private life.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will take place at 7 PM on Sunday, April 17, at the Hilton Garden Inn of Exton, PA, and his funeral mass on Monday, April 18 at 10 AM at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church of Chester Springs, PA, with visitation with the family starting at 8:45AM until 9:45AM

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any pediatric cancer charity, La Mancha Animal Rescue of Coatesville, PA, St. Elizabeth's Church, or to the charity of your choice. Chris liked to give people options.

We who knew and loved Chris will never stop missing his amazing sense of humor, the fabulous gourmet meals that he took such delight in cooking for friends and family, his adroitness with concocting spot-on metaphors in any situation, and most of all, his exceptional capacity for kindness, empathy, and love.
