“Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted” Matthew 5:4
On October 6, 1947, in Dewitt, Virginia, Clarance D. Morgan, “Don”, was the fifth of six children born to Joseph Morgan and Geraldine Hicks-Morgan.
God in his infinite wisdom decided the early morning of January 14, 2026, was the time for him to rest.
Don attended Dewitt Elementary and Southside High School. He was baptized at an early age and joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Dewitt, Virginia.
In 1966, he joined the United States Army, subsequently fighting in the Vietnam War. Don was honorably discharged with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Unit Citation.
After serving in the military, he was employed by Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company, until the company relocated to Macon, Georgia. Don went on to serve as civil service employee for the Department of the Army and retired from the Kenner Army Health Clinic, Logistics Division with 28 years of service.
Watching sports on the television was one of his favorite things to do, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He was an avid fan. He also loved to help in the kitchen, eat a home-cooked meal and relax in his favorite recliner. In his younger days, Don played baseball and would not miss a DC Giants Ball Game.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Joseph Morgan, Jr; sisters, Jean Morgan, Grace Ann Tucker, and Ida Jiggetts; and step-son, Rodney “RAP” Davis.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted friend, companion and wife of 36 years, Wyllette Davis Morgan who was by his side until God decided it was time to rest; devoted stepson, Randall A. Davis, Sr. (Jessica); mother-in-law, Lillian Massenburg whom he adored and affectionately called, “Mother”; sister, Sylvia (Mick) Morgan; nephews, Keith Nolan Morgan, Anthony, Timothy, Brandon and Linwood Jiggetts, Jr., James Tucker and Lewis Tucker, Jr.; nieces, Shamia Morgan, Sandra Tucker-Shaw and Bridgette Jiggetts-Satterwhite; brothers-in-law, Linwood Jiggetts, William L. Davis III (Vanessa), Wayne C. Davis (Sylvia); sisters-in-law, Wanda M. Davis (Mark) and Wilma D. Jones (William Sr.). Known as “Papa Don” to seven inherited grandchildren, devoted granddaughter, Shaneika Artis (Pierre) who gave him unconditional love, Randi Jae Davis, Randall A. Davis II, Laneica Jackson (Denzel), Marija Harris, Chelsea Alford, Jelani Gooden and adopted granddaughter/caregiver, Keyana Kentish; thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of cousins and friends too numerous to name to include, Michael White, Larry Morgan, Carl Lacy, Thomas Edmonds, James Patterson, Maxwell Jordan, Leon Branch, Peter Brown and Michelle Thorne to name a few.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 23, 2026, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 16616 Glebe Road, Dewitt, VA, the Rev. Dr. Gerald Brandon, Pastor, eulogist. The interment to follow in the church cemetery.
