Connie S. Zehner, of Appleton, age 72, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018, at Heartwood Homes of Alzhiemers. She was born January 31, 1945, daughter of the late Gene and Bette Steinhorst.
Connie married Daniel Zehner on April 19, 1968. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2015.
Connie’s love for Fashion and Design was evident in everything she did. One of her greatest accomplishments was the design of Peabody Manor, resulting in Industry recognition for her work. She dedicated her life to her family, especially her two sons.
Survivors include her sons: Matthew Zehner, Christopher (Erin) Zehner; Grandson, Nicholas Zehner; her brothers, Greg (Terry) Steinhorst and Jeff (Tara) Steinhorst; two sisters: Mary Jo (Dennis) McAbee, Amy (Joe) Vermiglio; sister-in-law, Christine Zehner; two brothers-in-law: Chuck Zehner, Jim Pawlowski; her nieces and nephews: Stephanie and Dan Mathews, Eric Steinhorst and Melissa Zimmerman, Allison and Jeff Bohlmann, Kelly and Brad Preston, Ross McAbee and fiancé, Amanda Folta, Eric Rathsack and special friend, Amy Pyne, Tim Rathsack and special friend, Melanie Christianson, Sarah Rathsack and special friend, Jared Van Handel, Brian Pawlowski, Ryan and Andrew Zehner, and Camden, Kylin, and Cooper Steinhorst; her great-nieces and nephews: Evan and Ella Mathews, Jaeda, Cristian and Mason Steinhorst, Isabelle and Lydia Bohlmann, AJ, Lukas and Jack Preston, Jaxson and Ryder Rathsack, and Marley Brennan. Connie is also survived by her very best, lifelong friend, Rose Crowe.
Connie was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Sandra Pawlowski; nephew, Colton Steinhorst; and many other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Neenah’s Westgor Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Huff officiating. The visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’ Association or Meals on Wheels, in Connie’s name.
She was a kind generous person who welcomed all that knew her with gracious hospitality, sage advice, humor and love. We are all better off for knowing her!
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Heartwood Homes for their excellent care, and a special thanks to her primary hospice nurse, Tammy.
