Dan Wassell

1935 - 2019

Daniel "Dan" Wassell, 84, of Stone, KY, passed away Saturday July 6, 2019, at the skilled nursing unit, Tug Valley Regional Medical Center. Dan was born January 14, 1935, at Stone, KY, to he late George Wassell and Myrtle Meadows Wassell. Dan is also preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Marie Wassell and his brother, George Wassell Jr. Dan was a retired coal miner for Eastern Coal Company, a member of the Sharondale Church of Christ and a veteran of the US Air Force.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Jean Lequire Wassell, his children, Kim (John) Hanny of Harrodsburg, KY, Herma (J.B.) Shelton of Paintsville, KY, and Daniel (Donna) Wassell of Kitts Hill, OH. Dan is also survived by six step children, Tammy (Jesse) Hager of Blackberry, KY, Phyllis Maples of Chattaroy, WV, Robert Lequire of Huddy, KY, Johnny (Debby) Lequire of Chucky, TN, David (Trish) Lequire of Morehead, KY, and Teresa (Dave) McVey of Huddy, KY, grandchildren, Kristen (Todd) Willey, John Carl (Amanda) Hanny, Joshua Hanny, Jennifer (Nathan) Blayer and Danny Ray Wassell, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday July 10, 2019, at the Sharondale Church of Christ with Bob Werntz officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 - 9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. R. E. Rogers Funeral Home is serving the Wassell family.
