Daniel L. Byford
Daniel L. Byford of DeKalb, IL passed away peacefully on Monday May 22, 2023, after a short battle with brain cancer. He was born on July 29, 1941, in Joliet, Illinois, to the late Herbert Byford and the late Laura Weber Byford. He married Toni Mueller on November 11, 1967.
Daniel is a graduate of Crete-Monee High School. He served in the Army from 1963 to 1966. He worked for IBM for over 30 years. He enjoyed traveling with Toni. He also enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the DeKalb Elks, Moose, and Lions clubs. He served as an officer in the different organizations as well. He enjoyed working Bingo Thursday nights at the DeKalb Elks Club. He was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in DeKalb.
Daniel is survived by his wife Toni of DeKalb, a son Michael (Lisa) Byford of Waterman, IL, a daughter Cindy (Brian) Kozumplik of Sycamore, two grandsons Zak and Rik Kozumplik of Sycamore, a sister-in-law Nancy Byford of Buchanan, TN, a niece, and a nephew.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
A visitation will be held Friday May 26, 2023, from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Finch Funeral Home in DeKalb and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 11:00am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 511 Russell Road in DeKalb with Rev. Marty Marks officiating. The burial will be immediately following the service at Fairview Park Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the DeKalb American Legion Post #66. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Sincerest gratitude to Dr. Thakkar (Northwestern Medicine) and the doctors and nurses at Northwestern in downtown Chicago and Kishwaukee Hospital. Also thank you to the staffs at DeKalb County Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center and the Promedica Hospice.
