Dare Putnam Obituary
Dare Byers Putnam, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Lincolnton Rehabilitation Center. Dare was born in Shelby, NC on February 19, 1941, to Hubert Benjamin Putnam and Lena Lee Byers Putnam. He graduated from Number 3 High School and was self-employed as a commercial cleaner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his special aunt, Dennis Byers Mayhew and brother-in-law, George Newman. He is survived by his loving sister, Gloria Putnam Newman of Shelby; nephew, Jason Newman and wife Kristen of Mt. Pleasant, SC; great-nephew, Byers Newman and great-niece, Georgia Grace Newman, both of Mt. Pleasant, SC.
The family would like to especially thank VIA Healthcare Partners Lincoln County for the loving care they gave him over his last weeks. Funeral services are entrusted to Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Sulphur Springs Methodist Church Cemetery at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Rev. Richard Stroup will offer words of encouragement to those in attendance.

The Barringer Family loved Dare very much .. dating back to the 1950s. He was always present when the Putnams...the Byers.. the Combs ..and the Barringers visited together. My first ride on a motorcycle as a teenager .was with Dare. So many memories . ..we will cherish them and have his family in our prayers . Sonya Barringer
