Darieen Marquise Hewett, of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on November 25, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and devotion to his family.
Born on March 21, 1999, Darieen graduated from Eastern Guilford High School in 2018, where he completed four years of Career and Technical Education in carpentry. His skills and determination led him into a variety of trades and service roles, where he excelled in carpentry, electrical work, mechanical repair, and food service. Darieen’s career reflected his versatility and perseverance—he worked as a carpenter with Tradesmen International, a cook and shift lead in restaurant operations, and most recently served as Team Lead at Onward Safety Solutions, where he was admired for his leadership and dedication.
Beyond his professional life, Darieen was known for his warm spirit, his willingness to help others, and the love he poured into his family. He enjoyed the outdoors including fishing and telling stories that would have others smiling and laughing. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Angelise Martinez Hewett (Jennifer), who was the light of his life. He is also survived by his mother, Dewauna Hewett McLean; his brothers, DeQuincy Hewett (Nia Cheek Parker) and Solomon McLean (Antonie McLean); his niece, Kinsley; and his nephew, Kai. His extended family includes Carlos Hewett (Harriet), Tonya James (Jonathan), Terrell Hewett (Kia), and Sharon Sutton, Sandra Dillahunt (Plummer), Cleaster Moore (Eddie), Roger Ormond, Willie Ormond along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.He was preceded in death by his father, Tyrome Sutton, and his grandfather, Ottis Hewett (Lauretta).
Darieen’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Family and friends will remember him for his laughter, perseverance, and generosity. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he loved and in the many lives he touched.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, December 5 in the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel, 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, December 6 in the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel; visitation with the family begins at 12:00 pm followed by the service at 1:00 pm. A repast will be held at Caldcleugh Multicultural Arts Center, 1700 Orchard Street, Greensboro.
Interment will follow in Zion Hill Cemetery, 2100 Zion Hill Road, Bolivia, NC on Sunday, December 7 at 2:00 pm.
