Darnell Harris Obituary

Darnell Harris, Sr. passed away on January 19, 2016. Services will be held Friday, January 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Greater Faith Apostolic Church. Burial will follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery. Darnell was born on June 7, 1954 in Richland, Georgia to Otis Lee Harris Sr. and Lucille Moses Harris.
He was raised in Syracuse, New York. Darnell graduated from Cathedral Academy High School in 1972. He was a star basketball player all during high school. Darnell served honorably in the United States Marine Corp and the Army. During the military, Darnell was a Drill Instructor and Equal Opportunity Representative in Human Resources. Darnell received a degree from University of Texas on the Dean's List. He loved family and collecting pictures of family from all over. Darnell served as Deacon at Greater Faith Apostolic Church and he loved the Lord.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Gwendolyn Harris; daughters Danielle Harris of Lawton, Oklahoma and Terrica L. Chambers of Atlanta, Georgia; son Darnell Harris, Jr. of Lawton, Oklahoma; sisters Shirley Rowser-Tripp (Andrew) of Syracuse, New York, Elizabeth Harris-Mayes of Syracuse, New York, Helen Wray (Sammy Ray) of Brooklyn, New York, Angie Hollomon (Tony) of Richland, Georgia and Gloria Dowdell (Leon) of Columbus, Georgia; brothers Willie James Kitchens of Columbus, Georgia, Ishmael Bey (Tracy) of Fort Meyers, Florida and Jackie L. Harris (Carol) of Columbus, Georgia, Otis L. Harris, Jr. of Syracuse, New York; grandson Michael Darnell Harris of Lawton, Oklahoma; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gwen I'm truly saddened to hear about the passing of Darnell, known to Kinston, NC as Don'Q. From time to time old friends will cross our spirits and and we think of them so on today I just decided to goggle his name. I'm truly sorry to you and your family for this tremendous loss of a loving and caring human being that God allowed to journey through this life. I' m related to Pearlie and Jean. May God continue to bless you and your family.
