David Leroy Davis, age 79, passed away peacefully at home on February 1, 2026. Born in Niceville, Florida, David spent most of his life in Laurel Hill, a place he proudly called home.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Davis and Elsie Mae Davis; his brother Richard Davis; and his sister Mary Clary.
He is survived by his loving spouse, Lorine Davis, and his children: Charlene Emerson (Thurman Emerson), Toni Davis, Tad Davis (Jessica Davis), Whaylond Davis (Joanna Davis), Laura Thompson (Jonathon Thompson), and Davey Davis.
David was a proud grandfather to Rachel, Amber, Damien, Alex, Nicholas, Devon, Cadence, Landon, Tori, Lily, Ryan, Cameron, Ava, Jocelyn, Olivia, and Caroline, and a cherished great-grandfather to 12 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings: Jimmy Davis, Mildred Newton, Loretta Newton, Diane Withrow, and Nadine Keen.
David never met a stranger. He loved everyone he met and would give his last dollar to help someone in need. He was a hardworking man who devoted his life to making sure his children always had food on the table and clothes on their backs. While the family may not have been rich in money, they were rich in love, something David gave freely and abundantly.
He worked in construction and farming all his life and took great pride in raising chickens and pigs. Some of his greatest joys came from riding horses, fishing with his children and grandchildren, and spending time hunting outdoors. Family was always at the heart of everything he did.
A limb has fallen from the family tree that whispers, “Grieve not for me.” Remember the best times—the laughter, the songs, the good life I lived while I was strong. We hope you are proud of what you see. You may be gone, but you are never forgotten. We will always save you a seat at the table.
Funeral services for David Davis will be 11AM Friday February 6, 2026 at Evans Funeral Home with Mike McVay officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before services. Interment will be in Almarante Cemetery.
