David Rigney Obituary

David "Hotshot" Rigney, 64, of Evarts, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016, at the UK Medical Center following a long illness. Born June 14, 1951 in Harlan County, he was a former milk delivery man and a member of the Yocum Creek Fire Department. He believed in the Baptist faith.

Hotshot was preceded in death by his parents, Dollie Lynch Rigney and Clyde Rigney; and a half-brother, James Clyde Rigney.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Lou Furgerson and husband, Billy, Evarts; Dottie Sue Rigney, Evarts; a brother, Lee Earl Rigney, Middlesboro; and a host of nieces and nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 until 8 pm at the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 28, 2016, at 2 pm in the Chapel of the Evarts Funeral Home with the Reverend Don Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

I can't think of my childhood and not think of Hotshot, walking up and down the road keeping his pups safely by his side. Always smiling and greeting you. I don't get home much, but the memories are always there and the people who helped make them will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace.
