David A. Talley, 81, has received his heart’s desire to go to Heaven and be with Jesus who loves him immensely, following his one year battle with cancer. He was born on April 1, 1941, in Houston, Texas, and passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
David is survived by his soulmate and beloved wife of 37 years, Melanie Talley. Children: Debra Denny, Mark Talley and wife Angela, Kevin Talley and wife Sandy, Kevin Wooten and wife Mardi, and Todd Wooten. Grandchildren: Nicole Little, Dana Denny, Jesse Denny, Travis Talley and wife Morgan, Austin Talley and fiancée Kassie, Jack Talley, Amber Talley, Adam Wooten and Blake Wooten. Great grandchildren: Ivy Little, Raelyn Talley and Bayne Talley. Siblings: William Talley, Betty Speck. Brothers- in-law: Richard Tate and wife Naida, Mike Tate and wife Bonnie, and Jim Tate. And a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Marshall and Leila Talley.
David was a hard worker, shining shoes at the young age of 6 and volunteering to start full-time work at 16 as a Sheet Metal Apprentice to help support his family. He delighted in taking people on “his tour” around Houston highlighting the buildings he had worked on, including the Astrodome. He established the thriving Talley Construction Company in 1973, where he and Melanie worked together daily and still had plenty to talk about in the evenings. David was well respected and admired throughout the insurance restoration industry, and he served as an inspiration and mentor to many.
On their first date, David and Melanie discovered they both had a desire to travel. Together they traveled the United States by plane and motorcoach and enjoyed great adventures abroad, as well – visiting 38 countries from the Arctic Circle to Patagonia.
David was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, serving actively at Faithbridge Church, in NW Houston. His Homegoing celebration will be officiated by Pastor Ken Werlein, at Faithbridge (18000 Stuebner-Airline Rd., Spring, Texas 77379) at 11:30am on Wednesday, June 8, with reception following. Livestream of the memorial service will be available at www.faithbridge.org/memorial. For complete obituary go to www.kleinfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either www.projectsamuel.org/tag/relationships-for-christ/ or to Faithbridge Church (www.faithbridge.org).

David made such an impact on so many lives. Our family is better for having know David and Melanie. He will be missed but we know he is in God´s presence now and that in itself isn´t a bad place to be. May God´s love comfort the Talley family.

I helped the family care for David before he left us. I felt like I knew him a little bit through all of the stories the family shared while surrounding him with their love. It was a beautiful thing thing to watch their loving and supportive bond they all clearly had for each other and for David . Melanie s complete determination that he was comfortable until the end was so appreciated by all! It was an honor to be a part of this and may peace and health surround each and everyone of you.
With so much love Carinne
