Deacon Bledsoe Obituary

John Clarence Tilmon Bledsoe, 81 of South Hadley, Massachusetts passed peacefully in his home on Friday afternoon September 6, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Milton Florida on January 18, 1938. He was a US Navy Veteran who met his lifetime sweetheart, Irene while stationed in New London CT. They married in 1957 and spent 62 years in loving matrimony. John leaves behind his wife Irene, their daughters, Dorene, her husband Wendell Pennell, and Bonnie, her husband Michael Robert, and six grandchildren Sheila, Molly, Brittany, Jono, Eric, and Jamie. As a leader in the local Cursillo community, John’s example of faith brought many people to Christ. As the Deacon of St. Patrick’s Parish in South Hadley, John was proud to have performed over 1500 baptisms (we’re pretty sure this is a world record) in his 25 years of service to the community. The last baby he baptized was his great-grandson, Quentin, who brought him much joy over the last two years. At work, John was an accomplished businessman, keeping the books and overseeing the family business PIP Printing. John found joy in crafting with wood and food – always sharing with others. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time (and sometimes catching fish) on his boat, the C’est Si Bon. John will be remembered as a loving family man and a humble servant to Christ. He was a prominent member of his community who will be missed by too many to mention and is loved by all who were blessed to know him. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 11th from 4 – 7 PM in the church at St. Patrick’s Parish, 30 Main Street South Hadley. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, September 12th at 11AM at St. Patrick’s Parish, 30 Main St. South Hadley. Committal will be private for the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Blessed Sacrament School, Deacon John Scholarship, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke MA 01040 or St. Patrick’s Parish, 30 Main Street, South Hadley MA 01075.
C’est Si Bon!
