Deacon Nathaniel Crook Sr. Obituary

Nathaniel M. Crook Sr., 86, of West Chester, PA, husband of Lurerlene Smith Crook, passed on Wednesday, September 23, 2015. He was the second youngest of seven children.

In the words of Deacon Crook, ?Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord. You saved my soul and my life from many challenges and destruction.

It all started for me on September 5, 1929 in Post Oak, AL. I had wonderful parents, Acrus Benny Crook, my father and Carrie Ora May Peters, my mother. There were six brothers and sisters, Mattie Crook, thought to be a genius, Acrus Crook Jr. and Milledge Crook, school principals, Delois Crook-Brown, a school administrator, Gladys Crook, a school teacher and James Crook, a medical professional.

I earned a BS degree in Economics at Alabama A&M University and pursued studies in economics at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY and The University of South Florida in Tampa, FL.

My employment included marketing and content development for stories at Cowles Publishing Co., executive director for Tampa Florida Urban League and associate director for Oklahoma City Urban League, host for the Florida Department of Labor TV program ?Opportunity Line,? manager of human resources for General Electric Company and the director of Human Resources for Lincoln University.

Most importantly along my journey of stewardship was ?In the Service of Jesus Christ?. I functioned and participated in church activities at all levels (national and local), teaching, management and leadership development and serving as a deacon and trustee chairperson. I served in many capacities at the most loving and caring church, St. Paul?s Baptist Church in West Chester, PA.

I leave with you my hope ? May ?The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.? now and forever more.? Numbers 6:24-26

Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you cherish the memories of Deacon Crook. He was indeed an inspiration to me and my family as we joined the St. Paul's Baptist Church. He was a great Sunday School teacher and great scholar. I pray that God will take special care of the family. He loved the Lord and was a great servant leader.
