Dessie Bell “Aunt Buggie” Armstrong, 79, passed away in Greenville, Texas on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
Dessie Bell Armstrong was born in Ore City, Texas to the parentage of Steel Armstrong and Gertrude Davis Armstrong on Friday, August 3, 1945. She received her formal education in various school districts- Macedonia School District in Ore City, Texas; Williford Elementary School in Farmersville, Texas; St. Paul Independent School District in Neylandville, Texas, graduating from Bland High School in Merit, Texas.
Dessie accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Elem Baptist Church in Floyd, Texas. Mt. Elem Church later moved to Greenville, Texas.
Dessie worked in the cafeteria at Shady Brook School in Richardson, Texas for about eight years. Later, she worked in Garland, Texas for the Vaughn Family for more than thirty years. She was a faithful worker in the Culinary Department of Mt. Elem Baptist Church for more than thirty years. She promoted the singing group, “ Stars of Wonder” that were booked all over Texas and the United States. For fifteen years, she promoted and managed “Carolyn Taylor Murray & Joy”.
Loved ones left to cherish Dessie’s “ Aunt Buggie’s” precious memory: three brothers, Cleveland Armstrong (Lillie) of Garland, Texas, Robert Armstrong (Jo Evelyn) of Andrew, Texas and Odell Armstrong of Ore City, Texas; a special nephew, Howard Earl Armstrong (Paula) of Sachse, Texas; sister-in-love, Eunice Armstrong of Balch Springs, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
