Dixon Ann Yarbrough (Smith) Lichtenauer, born January 11, 1934, all fingers and toes according to her parents, Elsie M. (Rehm) and Jasper Henry Yarbrough. She is preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Louis Lichtenauer, her sister, Elsie Margaret Barrier, brother-in-law Charles, her brother Robert Jasper Yarbrough, sister-in-law June. Dixon has resided in Timberbay subdivision, Trinity, Texas since 1992.
She grew up in the subdivision, East Haven, off 45 and Spencer, Houston, Texas. She attended Pasadena ISD, where she was a member of the Student Council, band, Choir and Thespain. She was the Basketball Queen her sophomore year and FFA Sweetheart her Senior year. She was awarded a full scholarship to Sam Houston University and University of Houston, which she attended receiving a Bachelor of Science in Music Education.
Dixon taught music in the Houston ISD for 10 years, one year in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, also taught private piano for 20 years. A substitute teacher in the Huntsville ISD from 2005-2013, and her own contracting business, Bilda, with her husband.
While a member of Sweet Adeline International she sang in two regional Championship quartets, directed a regional Championship chorus and also directed two other local chapters in Livingston and Humble, Texas.
She is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-laws Michael Wayne Smith and Nancy Lynn, Mark Alan Smith and Dawn. Her step-daughter Debra Lynn Hall and Steve Hall, Deceased step-son William Randall Lichtenauer, Step-daughter-in-law Carolyn Poore, Step-daughter Delores Denise Lichtenauer, Step-grand-daughters Larisa, Carol, Cronce, and Chad Aaron, Holly, Scottie and Abigail, Step-grand-sons Brian Randall Lichtenauer and Chanta, Jeremy preceded in death by his brother Justin, Ryan E and Dustin Troy, Houston, Christopher W., Dylan and Riley Nathaniel. Step-great-grand-daughter Kaitlyn, Step-great-grand-sons Rees AaronBrice Aaron. and Jayce Aaron.
Visitation will be held at Waller Thornton Funeral Home, 203 San Jacinto, Trinity, Texas on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Graveside will be at Houston National Cemetery to be announced at a later time.
