Dear Mitch and Family,
I was out of town this past week so I was unable to attend the funeral. I want everyone to know that Dee Casto was one of my best friends. We became friends while working as Instructional Assistants at Forrest Elementary School. Dee was a wonderful person and the most caring person. Not only did she raise her children to be th e best that they could be, she also had several foster children while raising her young family. Dee was a devout Catholic and did a lot of volunteer work at her church. She would tell me about her involvement in World Vision. She showed me pictures of the child that she was trying to help by pledging a monthly donation. She would fill that envelope with little gifts every holiday and send it to that child. She wanted to help a refugee child get ready for school, but unbeknownst to her she ended up helping the single mother and her two children. She had to show the mother how to clean her apartment. She went to different meetings at the school these children attended and made sure that they were getting the help they needed. She loved her family and was a very proud parent. She loved all six of her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. I loved receiving her Christmas Card every year. It was a picture of her and Mitch and all the grandchildren. One of her favorite things to do was making cookies. I remember she always brought cookies to work and would put them in the teacher's lounge. She made over a hundred cookies for my daughters wedding. I will miss you a lot, my dear friend!!!

I had the pleasure of working with Dolores at Forrest Elementary. As the teacher librarian I always appreciated her help when her students were in the library. She frequently brought her wonderful baked goods to Forrest to share with her coworkers. I enjoyed sharing stories about our grandchildren with her. Dolores was a wonderful and caring person and I treasured our long friendship. I pray that your loving memories of her will give you comfort in your sorrow.
