Donald Brant Obituary

On Friday, October 28, 2022, Donald Brant, loving husband and father of two boys passed away surrounded by loved ones.  He was 54 years old.

Donald was born in Gary, IN on July 2, 1968.  He graduated from Merrillville High School in 1986.  He was an athlete participating in multiple sports including football and wrestling which he later enjoyed coaching his sons in.

Right out of high school, Donald enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he served his country with pride and honor for 4 years. He was very proud to be the only Marine from his graduating class. He did tours in Iceland, Panama and Okinawa. He was awarded the Meritorious Master Rifle squad award, rifle expert badge, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with cluster, Certificate of Commendation and Certificate of Appreciation.  He was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal.

Donald had many passions – he loved golfing, watching Nascar and the Chicago Cubs/Bears and coaching his sons in sports. He was a big part of the Middletown High School Boosters for many years even after his sons graduated.  When not hard at work in the security industry for 30+ years, Donald enjoyed spending time with his friends – he was known as the group jokester.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Lisa and sons Aaron (Ashley Casper) and Austin.  He is preceded in death by brother Joey Kozicki and by his father Edwin Brant and survived by father, Donald Kozicki (Sonia) of Dunellon, FL and mother, Margaret “Peggy” Brant of Valparaiso, IN.  He is also survived by brothers, Kevin Brant of Las Vegas, NV, Robert Brant of Valparaiso, IN, Edwin (Lyndi) Brant, Jr. of Valparaiso, IN and Randall Brant (Kaylee) of New Pine Creek, OR and sister, Karey Larkins (Tom) of Land O’ Lakes, FL and brother-in-law, David Pino (Fawn) and sister-in-law, Julie De La Paz (Sixto Martinez), and mother-in-law Tonna Pina.  He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Sorry for the Family and Friends loss. Our acquaintance with Coach Don was when our son Joe played on his and Coach Boomers MOT team many years ago. He was a very nice person and cared very much to make the best out of every player. RIP.
