Donald Brohan Obituary
Don was the beloved son of the late Donald Dean Brohan and the late Catherine Brohan (nee Tracy). He is survived by his brother Paul (Beth Porter) Brohan, brother Mark (Mary Colby) Brohan, sister Mary Kathleen (Jim Nelsen) Brohan-Nelsen and sister Elizabeth (Robert Schmidt) Brohan; niece Megan Nelsen and nephews Ryan and Matthew Schmidt; friend to many, including close friends Bob Kreter and Judge Plummer.
A graduate of Saint Joseph High School, class of 1980, Don also attended Lake Michigan College and Western Michigan University. By profession, Don was a sales manager, purchasing agent and mortgage broker, who cared deeply about his work and clients.
His family and friends remember Don's raucous sense of humor and passion for Notre Dame football, his dedication to lovingly restoring old cars and great enjoyment of left-handed golf – all of it, punctuated by his colorful wit.
Most important, Don had a deep and abiding love for his family, a love that shone through as he cared for his mother, Catherine, in her final years. Don will be deeply missed.
Visitation Sunday, October 8, 2017, 3 – 8 p.m. at Markiewicz Funeral Home, P.C. , 108 Illinois Street, Lemont, Illinois 60439. Funeral services will be Monday, October 9, 2017, 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home to SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, for Mass at 10 a.m. Interment SS. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery.

Still not comprehending this loss. Donald was the little brother I didn't have. He was funny, sincere and ever so kind. Loved his easy laugh and his caring ways. Brohan family gatherings will seem empty for awhile..but stories and remembrances of Donald will help fill that hole... love you all xoxo

Don was my golfing buddy during the 1990's here in the Saint Joseph, Michigan. Even though I wasn't a very good golfer, he would tolerate my horrible shots. We walked the course for exercise and just to chat about everything. Once a year we would golf a full 18 holes at Lake Michigan Hills, where he again showed me how a much better golfer he was. I miss those days. To the Brohan family I would like to say I am so sorry for your loss.

Don's greatest strength lay in his ability to help everyone around him feel good about themselves. A good friend to many, a best friend to a very fortunate few, of whom we always felt included. Rest in peace Don, and check in with Owen and Gramps.
