Donald Knode Obituary

Donald Lee Knode, 83, of Hagerstown, passed away, Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at his home.


Born November 16, 1935 in Hagerstown he was the son of the late, Alfred and Pearl C. (Byrd) Knode. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Ann (Rudesill) Knode; a brother, James Knode; a grandson, Patrick Knode and a great granddaughter, Kyra Shae.


Mr. Knode was a brick mason and retired as a supervisor for United Masonry of Virginia.


He was a life member of the Goodwill Athletic Association and a member of the Waynesboro Moose Lodge. He was an avid golfer and a skilled craftsman.


He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.


Mr. Knode is survived by five children, Ricky Knode (Patti), Cathy Wright (Bill), Sandra Edwards, Pamela Stoner-Smith (Douglas) and Tracie Norris (Rich); five siblings, Paul C. Knode, Robert F. Knode, Terry N. Knode, Clara B. Palmer and Sherry V. Young; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.


A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Rev. Stewart Torres officiating.


Inurnment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.


Memorial contributions may be made in Donald's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Donald L. Knode was a true hero of America's forgotten victory- the Korean War. Though not a member of Antietam Chapter 312 Korean War Veterans Association, nevertheless we condole with you on your loss.
