Donald R. Manning, Sr., 90, a long tome resident of Levittown passed quietly at home with his children on, January 21 2019 at 5:17am. The founder of Design For Vision, Inc. was born July 14, 1928 in Jersey City N.J., the only child of William Manning and Dorothy McNally Manning. After serving in the military medical corps, he met Muriel Mitchell, a neighbor who moved in a few houses down while he was deployed in Korea. They were married at St. John's Church in Jersey City and soon relocated to Bucks County to open his own Optical Store in the once bustling community of Morrisville, PA.
Don was a true visionary who's successes in life were partly due to his warm charm, great smile and reliable stead fast accountability. He was an honorable man in every sense of the word and a very supportive husband, father and friend.
Over the years he enjoyed boating, golf and traveling, plus was an avid photographer, wood worker and gadgeteer. In recent years he loved his computer room, where he produced many computer discs of memories for family and friends. He was always prompt and believed if you weren't 5 minutes early you were 10 minutes late....
He is preceded in death by his wife Muriel and his daughter Claire, as they are now united. He will be missed by his remaining children: Donald R. Manning, Jr. of Ivyland, Carol Loblein of Langhorne and Maureen Crocker of Levittown; his 8 grandchildren, Ron Smith, Nichole Loblien Garonski, Kevin Crocker, Julie Crocker Dorazio, Bob Loblein, D. Roger Manning, Adam Manning, Mitchell Loblein; as well as his many great grand kids.
Our family would like to thank the hospice staff of Chandler Hall, especially Jamie, for their help with our father in his final days. Also the support we have received from family and friends has been outstanding and overwhelming..Thank you!
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, January 25, 2019, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm and on Saturday, January 26, 2019, from 9:30 until 10:30 am, at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where his funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Rosedale Memorial Park, Bensalem.
