Donald E. Short Jr., passed away, Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Beloved husband of Kristy Short. Loving father of Valerie (the late Victor) Dietzman and Brian (Allie) Short. Proud grandpa of Cody Dietzman and Lucas Short. Dearest son-in-law of Betty Vickers. Dear brother-in-law of Mary Short, Karen (Tom) Keim, Jim (Glenda) Vickers, Nancy (Walter) Bergman and Dana (Jeff) Wessel. Dear son of the late Donald and Frances Short. Dearest brother of the late Barry Short. Dear uncle, cousin and friend of many.
Don was born February 10, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri. He grew up in Brentwood, Missouri and graduated from Brentwood High School in 1962. Don attended the University of Kansas where he earned his Bachelor's degree in business. After college, Don was drafted into the military and served in the United States Army. Don began his career in sales after his military service where he then met Kristy in 1980. They were married in 1983. Three years later, he was blessed with his daughter Valerie and then three years after that, his son, Brian.
Don enjoyed fishing, college football and especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Family was his highest priority. He was a wonderful husband, devoted and loving father and grandfather. His legacy and memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Services: The family will receive friends for a visitation at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Rd., Ballwin, MO 63011, on Wednesday, October, 15, 2025 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. The interment will follow in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full honors. Dear Kristy, Brian , Valerie and family. Our deepest sympathies to all who called Don family and friend. We have sweet memories of our kids in school and sports and seeing Don at various functions. Hugs to all. The Leibee Family.
