Donald (Don) Vandlac, 91, passed away February 4, 2026, in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Don was born in Sedro-Woolley on October 22, 1934, to Ernest and Frances Vandlac. Soon after, the family moved to Mount Vernon where Don attended school, graduating from Mount Vernon High School in 1952. He met his future wife Patricia (Pat), the love of his life, while working at a local cannery. They were married on May 7, 1954, and eventually settled in Burlington where he and Pat raised three children. Don worked at Skagit Steel (later Bendix, LTV) in Sedro-Woolley for 30 years until the business closed and he retired. He then started his own small business, Fishin’ Creations, selling his realistic carvings of fish at local craft fairs.
Don’s hobbies and interests included river and lake fishing, hunting, and camping, as well as watching classic movies and recording and listening to a wide range of music. He was an avid Gonzaga, Mariners, and Seahawks fan. And over the years, Don raised several golden retrievers, including Kayce, his favorite. He and Pat also enjoyed special trips to Hawaii.
Don is survived by Pat, his wife of 71 years; three children, Linda, Ron (and wife, Cheryl), and Terri; and two grandsons, Kevin and Kendon. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Betty and (infant) Shirley, as well as many friends.
Per his request, no public service will be held. A private interment at Hawthorne Memorial Park is scheduled for family later in February. Donations in his memory can be made through the foundation’s Giving Page at Skagit Valley College where his wife, daughters, and grandsons attended and/or worked.
