Doreen Dolores Timothy
September 14, 1937 – October 22, 2025
Doreen was born in Georgetown, Guyana, South America, to Leonard Menezes and Carmen DeSouza. Doreen graduated from Carmel Roman Catholic High School and played on their tennis team. She married her school sweetheart, Philip Timothy, in December 1957. She and Philip immigrated to New York, USA, in 1968, and by 1973, had brought their four daughters to the US as legal residents. Doreen worked as a nurse's aide at Cabrini Medical Center in NYC before moving with her family to Long Island, where she continued her career at Good Samaritan Hospital and obtained some post-secondary education towards a nursing degree until she was injured at work and had to resign in 1996. Doreen was undaunted and continued to focus her time and energy on advocating on behalf of her siblings and their families, whom she eventually helped to immigrate to the US.
Doreen was survived by her beloved husband, Philip Oren Timothy, of Georgetown, Guyana; her four daughters: Jackie, Alison, Donna, and Debra; her grandchildren: Byron, Brandon, Philip-Ramon, Danielle, David, Aisha, Timothy, Alexander, Nefertaria, Gabrielle, Nina, and Angelica; her great-grandchildren: Marjorie, Isaac, Braden, Cadence, Jamaris, Jacob, Jaden, Bronson, and Dashel; and her great-great granddaughter, Aubrey.
The family invites everyone to join them for a repast after the service. The location to be announced at the service.
