Mrs. Dorothy Arnick was born September 12, 1922 to the parentage of Rufus and Alice Powell Hale in Greenwood, LA. She was reared by her Uncle and Aunt, James and Martha Powell.
She attended Harrison County Public Schools but graduated on May 29, 1940 from Longview High School, Longview, TX.
Mrs. Arnick accepted The Lord Jesus Christ early in life. She joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Marshall, TX in 1933 and was baptized by the late Rev. O. P. Smith. She remained a member for the duration of her life and served faithfully in the work of God’s kingdom while apart of this congregation.
She served as a secretary of the St. Mark’s Chapter No. 135, Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Heroines of Jericho.
She was employed as a housekeeper for over 40 years by the late Mrs. Coleta Smith.
Mrs. Arnick departed this earthly life to live eternally with The Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Marshall Manor Nursing Home.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel Arnick, Sr.; son, Charles Porter;son-in-law, Tommy Johnson; daughter-in-law, Rose Arnick; and grandson, Jessie Humble III.
In God’s care, she leaves to cherish her memory: son, Samuel Arnick, Jr.; daughters, Susie Campbell, Joycelan Johnson, and Amelia (Reginald) Taylor; grandchildren, Orlando Humble, Latasha Campbell, Myesha Allen; great-grandchildren, Aiyana Ephraim, Taron Satchell, Whitney Miles, James Cook, Orlando Humble, II, Orlandria Humble; 5 great-great grandchildren; special friends, Jean Birmingham, Darnetta Humble, Myrtle Foster; other relatives and friends.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions may be made in her name to Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 1414 Elysian Fields Avenue, Marshall, TX 75670.
