Dr. David Glenn Bunn, Jr.

1950 - 2026

Dr. David Glenn Bunn, Jr. passed away at his home on March, 26, 2026 surrounded by family. 

He was born to the late Dr. David Glenn Bunn, Sr. and Mozelle Hooks Bunn of Whiteville, NC on April 3,1950. He grew up in Whiteville, NC and graduated from The Asheville School. He attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for his undergraduate degree and Doctor of Medicine. Dave completed his residency in Charlotte, NC at the Carolinas Medical Center specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology. 

Dave and Dana were high school sweethearts and recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. They moved to Wilmington 1979 where he set up a medical practice and raised their family. The Bunns settled near the water, where they cherished time together as a family, often sailing and boating. They also shared a love of travel, exploring destinations around the world. Dave was a wonderful cook who loved researching recipes and preserving the family traditions that had been passed down through generations. Dave had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and was an active member of the North Carolina Seashell Club, where he served as president, as well as a member of the North State Game Club. 

Dave is survived by his wife, Dana Ward Bunn; sister, Candace Bunn Davies; daughter, Caroline Bunn Mason; husband David F. Mason; son, David Glenn Bunn, III. He was very proud of his grandchildren: Ansley P. Mason, Brynn M. Bunn and D. Harrison Mason. He also had loving nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to the North Carolina Shell Club or New Hanover Humane Society. 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
