Dr. H. Luke Eye Obituary
Dr. Eye was a 1945 graduate of Franklin High School, a graduate of West Virginia University and The University of Maryland, and he served his residency at the University of Michigan. He was a member of the Franklin Lions Club and the Franklin United Methodist Church, where he participated in the church choir. Dr. Eye was instrumental in the refurbishing of Franklin High School in 1980 and was active in rebuilding Thorn Spring Park after the Flood of 85. He was a founding member of the Potomac Highlands Recreation Center and remained active assisting in the Snack Bar and running deliveries. Dr. Eye had served as President of the Pendleton Manor Building Fund, he was a Veteran of the US Navy, and was an avid golfer. He had worked at the Pendleton County Health Department, had served as the Pendleton County Coroner for years and retired as a Family Physician.
In addition to his wife, Dr. Eye is survived by: 2 daughters, Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Smith and husband Elwood of Upper Tract, WV, Suzanne Jennifer Terschueren of Harrisonburg, VA; a son, Andrew Luke "Andy" Eye and wife Beverly of Ft. Seybert, WV; 2 sisters, Dorothy Humphrey of Franklin, Margaret Elliott of Roanoke Rapids, NC; 5 grandchildren, Aaron Eye, Seth Eye, Isaac Eye, Christopher Smith, Avianna Terschueren; a great-grandson, Gary Andrew Smith; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a grandson, Noah Terschueren; a nephew, Joe "Pete" Bodkin; and 4 sisters, Lois Eye, Bonnie Vetters, Corrine Harness Richter, and Joanne Bodkin..
Dr. Eye's family will receive friends on Thursday, March 10, 2016, 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin, WV. Funeral services will be on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Franklin United Methodist Church in Franklin with Pastor Kelly Martin officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin with Military Honors conducted by The Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to: The Pendleton Manor Building Fund, Potomac Highlands Recreation Center, and Franklin United Methodist Church. Dr Eye was my family doctor 1965-70 when I was a resident of Franklin and music teacher at Franklin Elementary School. I am grateful always for his exceptional care and wisdom when I was his patient.
I found Dr. Eye's obituary listed on line and want to express my deepest sympathy to the Eye family. I remember his son Andy was one of my students.

Our condolences and love to the family. This is a special memory from years ago our friends shared with us. We were vacationing at the Cowger-Pope farm and had to leave. Our friends from Fla stayed on. The father had a trail bike accident. He was so impressed to find a doctor who made house calls! Many others may have similar stories to share that reflect Dr. Eye's character.

Dr. Eye Was second to none,Me, as an EMT/Paramedic on North Fork saw Dr. Eye very frequently all hours of the day and night in all kinds of weather conditions when he was the coroner.He was very committed to his work and the community.A Great man is now in Gods Kingdom.
