My belated condolences to Professor Stasons family. I was one of his law students at Lewis U college of law. He was a wonderful teacher with a witty sense of humor. I leaned much from him which I use to this day in my law practice.

My husband, George, and I knew Blythe when we lived in DeKalb some years ago, and visited him there within the last decade. We are saddened to realize that that time was the last ever.

I regret that a schedule conflict prevented the Spencers from attending Blythe's memorial service. But I want to say that he will be missed at the retirees' lunches on Thursdays, and at the many Lifelong Learning Institute events that he attended even when he was suffering. Please accept our condolences, Judy. We hope that you will continue to appear at LLI events.

The College of Law community is saddened by the passing of our colleague and friend. Blythe was one of the founding faculty of the law school, beginning in 1975 at Lewis, and then continuing when NIU acquired the school in 1979. He had a brilliant mind and a friendly spirit. He loved almost everything British and was widely read on a number of subjects. We will miss him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family

Neighbor Blythe was a man of warmth, wit and wisdom. At one of our summer picnics, he arrived wearing a RR-logo cap. With a straight face, he advised us to not tell the other guests that he was an 'owner'. Always a friendly word and smile when we crossed, usually at the Post Office. To Judy, Bill and both families,
What a loss. We send you our deepest condolences. I am writing not just for Anita and myself, but for the entire Motor Works staff.
I first met Blythe over 30 years ago. He came to Motor Works in 1984 with a quirky Volkswagen Diesel Pickup Truck. At the time this was a foreign car in the truest sense of the word. But he and his truck soon found a home at our shop.
It did not take long to learn Blythe and I shared many interests. These included a fascination with:
•Reading
•History in general
•Winston Churchill in particular
•Classic cars
•House construction
•And much more
We also shared a number of life's hardships. This gave us a deep connection.
However, I am most reminded of what a grand man he was. An adventuresome spirit was complimented by a keen intellect. Both were driven by an awesome personal energy. He adored people and travel. As a matter of fact, his parties and trips are near legendary.
He also had an insatiable curiosity. He would study and probe a new subject into near exhaustion. But most of all, he enjoyed action. Study was fine, but doing was his primary purpose. Blythe was driven to experience everything life had to offer. To literally wrestle with the world one on one, and suck it dry.
I stand in awe of my dear friend. The loss will be felt for a long time. Yet, the joy with which he engaged life will be his legacy.
In Loving Friendship,
Marty and Anita Fay
