Eddie McEarchern Obituary

Eddie Routledge McEarchern, age 79, of Shannon, Georgia, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022, at a local hospital.

Eddie was born in Rome, Georgia, on September 13, 1942, son of the late Thomas Jefferson McEarchern and the late Mary Hedgpeth McEarchern.  He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Rose Smith; by a son-in-law, Rickey Bailey; and by a brother, Thomas Wayne McEarchern.

Eddie was a good and kind Christian man who loved God, his church, and his family.  He was a hard-working husband and father who enjoyed providing for his “Junebug” and girls.  He will be greatly missed and leaves a tremendous void in all of our lives.

Eddie leaves behind his wife of 61 years, June Nelson McEarchern, and daughters, Mary Mathis (Dewayne), Terri Ramey (Cell), and Sherri Bailey.  Eddie and June were blessed to have twelve grandchildren, Scott Bailey (Kathy), Rebecca Bomar (Nat), Jennifer Bowers (David), Michelle Maletti (Andre), Marty Corbitt (Jessie), Lydia Voils (Andrew), Drew Corbitt, Sarah Garrett (Ethan), Elizabeth Palopoli (Matt), Michael Smith, Mandi White (Nathan), and Zac Mathis (Caytlin), and sixteen great-grandchildren.  Eddie is also survived by a brother, Walter McEarchern (Anna), and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 11am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Rafael Carballo and Deacon Stuart Neslin officiating.  Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Thursday from 6 until 8pm.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Friday at 10:30am and include: Marty Corbitt, Michael Smith, Zac Mathis, Nat Bomar, Andrew Voils, David Bowers, Matt Palopoli, and Ethan Garrett.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, has charge of the arrangements.

I am so sorry for your loss! He was such a part of my teen years and I never knew for sure how he felt about me dating his daughter. He would occasionally just look at me and grunt! It made my legs a little shaky! However, he was always nice to me and welcomed me into his house! I will always have fond memories of him! He definitely was a great man and created a great family! Prayers and blessings with all of you during this hard time!
